Coaching and Confidentiality


In individual coaching;

  • The client may share information regarding coaching with others, but the coach may not share information about the coaching outside the coaching dialog with the client. The confidentiality of the coaching process, is one of the core components of ICF - International Coach Federation Code of Ethics.
  • Publicly available information (Such as LinkedIn profile), illegal activity that is legally required to be reported to governmental institutions, imminent or likely danger of harm to self or others are situations not included in confidentiality.

In the event that the employer is the sponsor of the coaching process, the confidentiality scope above regarding individual coaching holds true, additionally;

  • At the beginning of the coaching process the authorized persons of the employer, the customer and the coach meet to identify the goals of the coaching. The meet again at the middle and end of the coaching process to evaluate the progress towards the goals.
  • The coach may share information with the authorized representatives of the employer such as the dates and duration of coaching sessions, session cancellations, no-show sessions, the number of session completed.
  • Subjects that are potential legal issues such as sexual harassment, fraud or theft, the coach is obligated to inform the appropriate authorized representative of the employer.
