Workshop Facilitation

As Nilsight we provide workshop facilitation that results with collaborative and productive working session of a group and a clear outcome in the form of a concrete deliverable.

Workshops are interactive working meetings that have a specific goal, a reason or target output, such as;

  • Discussing alternatives and making a joint decision on a spesific topic,
  • Preparing a future strategy or plan,
  • Putting together the skeleton of a major project plan,
  • Identifying next steps in solving a problem.

Workshop duration can be planned with a duration of a couple of hours to a couple of days, determined according to the topic and desired outcome.

Effective workshops both gather the knowledge of the members of the group and also bring forth commitment to the workshop outcomes by the group members because it is now a shared responsibility.

The facilitator is an objective person who leads the workshop by focusing the group to the goal, making sure work moves in the target direction, providing the process and structure to the meeting and ensuring the input of all participants. As a side effect, successful workshops are also excellent team building exercises.

Potentially, it is best that the facilitator is an experienced, external person, who is not affected by the group/team dynamics taking part in the workshop. The facilitator thus stays neutral, does not take sides, has a fair approach and is open to all points of view during the discussions. Also the facilitor can challenge the group regarding their beliefs, values, habits and assumptions, when necessary.
