Group Coaching

At corporations, we provide group coaching services in addition to one-to-one professional coaching to all parts of the organization. Our special expertise is in IT teams.

Group coaching leverages the “collective wisdom” of a group. In additional to the interaction with the coach, customers learn from other members of group, which is often called “peer learning”.

One-to-one coaching is a deep-dive to a person, whereas group coaching is a collective experience around a common theme or goal. Educational aspect is higher.

Some customers prefer group coaching to one-to-one coaching, because the attention is not constantly only on them and they enjoy the support of a group. Educational aspect is higher.

Sponsor corporations may prefer group coaching because group coaching

  • is more cost efficient,
  • is more scalable so that change can be implemented faster,
  • enables employees from lower levels of the hierarchy to benefit from coaching as well and
  • increases communication, creates “cross information transfer” among people from different parts of the organization.

Group coaching is an effective way of supporting change over time.

Group coaching is also used in international or multi-location organizations, because it can be offered in person or virtually.

When the group size is above 12 people, coaching is ineffective and it becomes more facilitation. Optimum size for group coaching is 7.

Some examples of group coaching engagements are the following :

  • A six month, bi-weekly group coaching as a part of a talent program.
  • A three month, weekly group coaching program for a mix of employees from different departments of the IT organization to increase communication and explore ways to increase innovation.
  • A one year, monthly group coaching for newly promoted team leaders or managers, to support them in their transition from being an individual contributor to a manager.
  • A coaching program for critical employees of both organisations in an merger & acquisition to establish communication between the teams and ease the transition into a single organization.
  • A group coaching of 4 month, monthly sessions to follow-up on a leadership training delivered to the management team of the company in order make the learning stick.
  • A full day intensive group coaching session on delegation for young managers.
